Jerusalem

A song about Jerusalem — the city at the heart of biblical history, marked by faith, sorrow, prayer and promise. From the days of the prophets to the footsteps of Jesus Christ, and looking forward to His return, Jerusalem remains a powerful symbol of God’s unfolding story.

Scripture: Psalm 122:6; Zechariah 14:4

Lyrics

In the hills of Judea, where heaven kisses the earth
Lies a city of gold and fire, chosen and loved by God since birth
From Abraham to David, through centuries of grace
Jerusalem, O mother, your name echoes through time and space
Through walls of sorrow and gates of endless prayer
You carry the footsteps of the Messiah everywhere

Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
City of peace, city of holy fire and light!
Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Throne of the King, shining through the night!
All the nations will come and bow before your glory
For the Lord of Hosts dwells within you forevermore!
Oh Jerusalem… my heart belongs to you!

Your streets have known the tears, your stones have drunk the blood
Yet you rise again in beauty, like a phoenix from the flood
Temple Mount, Mount of Olives, Western Wall of tears and sighs
You are the navel of the world, the center of God’s eyes
Here the Lion of Judah will return in mighty power
And every knee shall bow before the King of Jerusalem’s hour

Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
City of peace, city of holy fire and light!
Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Throne of the King, shining through the night!
All the nations will come and bow before your glory
For the Lord of Hosts dwells within you forevermore!

Shalom… Shalom…
From Zion comes salvation, from Jerusalem the light…
All the prophets sang of you through the ages
And one day the whole world will see
The King is coming back… to you

Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Eternal city, bride of the Most High!
Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Your name will never fade, your light will never die!
All the kings of earth will one day bow before you
For you are the City of the Great King —
Forever and ever!

Jerusalem…
City of God…
I will never forget…
Your name
